Threads: An Interactive Map Exploring Broward's Black History
Discover Broward County's Black History with Threads! Threads is an interactive map built in collaboration between Broward County Transit (BCT) and the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC). The selected historical Landmarks include schools, places of worship, social establishments, and homes owned/established by prominent Black pioneers who significantly contributed to Broward County since the early 1900s.
The Landmarks and locations marked on this map represent the interwoven history of Broward County. They reveal the authentic stories of African American and Black Bahamian experiences in a segregated South Florida, highlighting the deep connections between them.
Like threads, these landmarks weave together a rich historical tapestry.
