Broward County's Solar Systems

Broward County is making major strides towards a clean energy future, with multiple renewable energy projects and initiatives being undertaken organizationally and across county sites.

This includes a number of large-scale solar projects both completed and on-going across at sites that include Port Everglades, various Broward parks and libraries, a county courthouse, warehouse, animal care, transit facilities, and more!  Projects include roof top installations, solar parking canopies, and are soon to include a covered basketball court providing both shade from the sun and shelter from rain. With 14 projects completed to date, Broward County has achieved an installed solar capacity of 3.1 Megawatts (MW). An additional 3 projects are under contract, which will provide another 0.4 MW in installed capacity. These solar projects are in additional to the 132 MW of solar energy that offsets the County's operations via participation in FP&L's Solar Together Program.
