Bogen Co-Sponsors Agenda Items
At the August 14th Board of County Commissioners meeting, Vice-Mayor Mark Bogen co-sponsored two items that aim to improve the quality of life for many Broward County residents.
Agenda Item 1 | Living Wage
The first item directs the County Attorney to draft an ordinance amending Broward County’s Living Wage Ordinance, which will raise the hourly wages and benefits for covered employees. This amendment will help struggling families make ends meet and will also help retain qualified workers to provide excellent service to Broward County residents.
Agenda Item 2 | Homelessness
The second item co-sponsored by Vice Mayor Bogen was a Resolution that urges the City of Fort Lauderdale to allow mobile showers for the homeless to continue without an extensive application process. Hope South Florida has recently discontinued its shower program after the city began requiring the agency to go through a costly and frequent permitting process. This program provides an invaluable service to 75-125 homeless individuals each week.
