Transit Receives $17 Million Grant
Broward County Transit was awarded a $17.3 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration, part of a $423 million federal grant program to revitalize America’s bus infrastructure. Broward’s grant will be used along with Transportation Surtax dollars to fund a $51 million project to expand, modernize and improve our local public transportation system, including construction of new facilities and infrastructure for electric buses. FLL Expands Shopping, Dining and Security Checkpoint Screening Options
Flown through Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport lately? New shopping and dining options in Terminal 1, Concourse C include a NewsLink store offering an assortment of reading materials, travel essentials and grab-n-go snacks for travelers to stock up before or after flying. New dining options include Shake Shack and Flash Fire Pizza in Terminal 2, Concourse D and Rocco’s Tacos and Tequila Bar in Terminal 1, Concourse C. More... 

Also, CLEAR has been expanded to the Transportation Security Administration checkpoints in Terminal 3, Concourses E and F. If you’re a JetBlue, American, Norwegian, Emirates or Azul guest enrolled in CLEAR, you can move through a dedicated lane at airport security where your identity will be instantly validated using fingerprint and iris scan data before progressing to bag checks and x-ray machines. CLEAR debuted in 2018 and is now available in Terminals 1, 2, 3, and at the Hertz ticket counter in the Rental Car Center.

Homeless Point-In-Time Count Needs You
Broward County Homeless Initiative Partnership, in collaboration with the Broward Regional Health Planning Council is seeking 400 volunteers to assist the Homeless Continuum of Care with the collection of data for the 2020 Homeless Point-in-Time Count Survey. The count will take place on Wednesday, January 29th and 30th. Volunteers are required to attend an orientation session. Register now or address questions to pitvolunteers@brhpc.org. More...

The NatureScape Emerald Award recognizes businesses, municipalities, schools, government facilities and homeowners that have created and maintained model Florida-friendly landscapes or completed exceptional projects that demonstrate visible ecological practices. Recycle Your Christmas Tree at a Broward County Park
The Christmas tree recycling program continues through January 20, 2020. To dispose of your tree in an environmentally safe way, simply remove all the decorations and drop it off at one of 13 participating locations, where it will be recycled and the mulch used for landscaping throughout the County park system.
