Additional Surtax Sessions Coming  

Building on the success of our first five surtax business information sessions, we are planning an additional two sessions before the end of the year. One of the two sessions will primarily focus on upcoming IT projects. The Broward Commission approved the County's $5.8 billion budget for fiscal year 2020 at Tuesday's public hearing. The approved budget includes tax supported and non-tax supported funds for critical county priorities to address a growing population and improve the quality of life for all residents. We encourage all businesses to stay engaged with us and to visit the Purchasing Division's website to view a full listing of current solicitations and results. 

There are several County projects on the horizon. Therefore, there are great opportunities to do business with the County. However, you must be a County vendor; become one today!

The County is Hiring!
Broward’s Human Resources Division is hosting JOBtober Fest at the Main Library, 6th Floor, on Friday, October 4th from 11AM-5PM. Come interact and network with County agencies and learn about the services they provide and various career paths, employment and volunteer opportunities available.  

Do you not meet all the minimal requirements for a specific position in a County agency that is having difficulty finding qualified individuals for vacant positions? You may be hired as a "Trainee" and gain the job experience and/or training needed to qualify and subsequently transition into a specific position. Be sure to stop by the OESBD table to learn more about the Trainee Program.

Additionally, the Office of Economic and Small Business Development is seeking two qualified Small Business Development Specialists to specialize in surtax projects in two different capacities. One will have thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of small business certification and compliance (SURTAX) while the other will have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations (CRO/SURTAX). The successful candidates must also possess the ability to handle multiple time-sensitive business development projects and functions as part of a cohesive team. As more people relocate to or visit Florida, the demand for qualified construction workers grows. The booming population calls for additional housing, business expansion and improved roadways. Rapid population growth and expansion requires skilled workers, so now is the time to join the construction industry. This nationwide educational outreach program is designed to cultivate interest in high school students for the wide variety of skilled construction careers. The event will give students the chance to get a feel for the field by participating in activities like operating machinery and speaking to experienced industry veterans.

The Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development in collaboration with its partners Enterprise Florida, the U.S. Commercial Service in Peru and the City of Miramar invite you to explore global market growth through our “Florida Export Opportunities” series. Peru continues to lead Latin America as one of the fastest growing economies in the region, with an average annual growth rate of 6.0% per year between 2005 and 2019. With $3.6 billion in two-way trade, Peru ranks has the 13th largest trading partner for Florida and 7th largest trading partner for Port Everglades. Learn more about the exporting opportunities to Peru and the upcoming Export Sales Mission to Lima, Peru. Information will be presented by Mr. Ricardo Peláez, Senior Commercial Officer for the U.S. Embassy in Lima, followed by short one-on-one meetings with interested companies.

Scope of Work: Vendors are invited to respond for a fixed contract for the furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment, tools, mobilization, engineering, geotechnical reports and incidentals for a new custom Cantilevered Shade Structure at the Splash Adventure pool equipment building at Quiet Water Park.
Site Visit:  It is the responsibility of each Vendor before submitting a solicitation response to Visit the site or structure to become familiar with conditions that may affect costs, progress, performance or furnishing of the Work.  The job site is open to the public, free of charge, during normal park hours. Weekend site visits may require a park fee.
Questions and Answers: The County provides a specified time for Vendors to ask questions and seek clarification regarding the requirements of the solicitation. All questions or clarification inquiries must be submitted through BidSync by the date and time referenced in the solicitation document (including any addenda).  The County will respond to all questions via BidSync.

Broward County is offering the opportunity to design, build, operate, and manage a common-use passenger lounge at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Respondents to this Request for Letters of Interest should propose a high quality, professionally designed, and state-of-the-art airport lounge operation which will appeal to FLL’s unique mix of international and domestic passengers. This concession opportunity will be non-exclusive, and the County reserves the right to add other lounge operations and lounge concessionaires.
