Retention and Expansion

The Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) provides direct assistance to Broward County businesses through a vigorous corporate visitation and outreach program. The program is designed to facilitate better communication between the Broward County business community and County government. Joined by our private sector partner the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, OESBD participates in extensive corporate outreach, identifying problems and challenges faced by Broward County businesses, and directing them to the resources to help them succeed. In addition to the tools OESBD employs in business attraction and recruitment activities, we utilize the following methods in retention and expansion projects:

BMSD Economic Development Program

The Economic Development Program for use in the Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) involves $3.8 million to benefit businesses for Facade/Property Improvement, Business Development/Redevelopment, Demolition, Strategic Land Assembly and Revolving Loan Programs. As an important new component of the County's business retention and expansion activities, this program is designed to enhance the potential long-term impact of existing businesses, create opportunities for new private investment and to positively impact public benefit in the BMSD. Incumbent Worker Training Program
