Throughout the year Broward Emergency Management, in coordination with our municipal partners, conduct education and outreach sessions on emergency preparedness for large segments of the community including:

  • Businesses
  • Schools (public and private)
  • Senior citizen Organizations
  • Health Care Agencies
  • Non-profit and Civic Organizations

Broward County has more than 1.9 million residents. Of special concern during hurricane season are the approximately 250,000 residents who live in mandatory evacuation zones, and a mobile home population of nearly 40,000.

Free training and presentations on emergency preparedness are available to the general public on request. 

Training

SKYWARN ™ –
The National Weather Service conducts spotter training classes to the general public to feed valuable local weather information to the National Weather Service. Basic and advanced classes are offered to train storm spotters on weather events and what information is needed at the local weather service office.
