Match Savings Component

The Match Savings Component of the Financial Capability Program is a program modeled after the Assets for Independence Grant Program (AFI), a federal grant program that helps low to middle-income residents become financially independent through financial education and assistance.  The Match Savings Component helps with first-time homeownership, purchasing or repairing a vehicle, returning to school, condominium special assessment, hurricane home improvement protection, major home repair, and security deposit.  The Match Savings Component program participants are Broward County residents who work one-on-one with a financial coach to set and accomplish their financial goals. The program participants meet monthly with a financial coach and are required to accomplish at least three financial goals, participate in financially themed workshops, maintain a monthly budget, complete assignments related to financial education and literacy, and create a savings plan based on affordability that is determined by the program participant and the financial coach.
