Broward County Forensic Science Center

Development of the new Broward County Forensic Science Center is in the works.

Easily accessible from I-95, the state-of-the-art forensics and criminology facility will be in the heart of the county, in a mixed-use area. (See map)

The Broward County Forensic Science Center is a combination facility used primarily by two major Forensic Science and Pathology institutes of Broward County, the Broward County Office of Medical Examiner & Trauma Services (OMETS) and the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Crime Laboratory. The building provides advanced technological and scientific tools to forensic experts. General focus of the center is on facilitating the demands of medical examination and evidence analysis, two broad scientific pursuits that benefit our community by answering the difficult questions that follow death and criminal activity. It will be constructed through a five-phase process, which began project planning in February 2019. The Center is scheduled to be completed by August 2026. (Check the project timeline)
