Mayor's Letter

Dear Go SOLAR Fest Attendees

Broward County Mayor Kristin JacobsOn behalf of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, I would like to welcome you to Broward County’s Go SOLAR Fest.

Today, you’ll learn about the accomplishments of the Go SOLAR Program, a U.S. Department of Energy Rooftop Solar Challenge Grant project. On February 14, 2012, Broward County, with the help of its 14 participating partner cities, became the only local government awarded this Department of Energy grant within the Southeastern United States. The primary aim of this grant is to spur solar-power deployment through streamlining the permitting processes and cutting through the red tape.

Over 50 exhibitors sharing the newest solar and renewable energy technologies are participating in this event. Speakers from a variety of backgrounds will be sharing different aspects of the solar industry, including successes and ongoing challenges.

This event is an exciting opportunity to promote solar within Broward County, showcase Broward County and its partners’ successes, and lay the groundwork for future solar-related grants. We are so thrilled that you are partaking in the Go Solar initiative, and we look to you for assistance as we aim to accomplish the goal of renewable energy here in Broward County and our region at large.

Sincerely,

Kristin Jacobs, Mayor
Broward County Florida

Congressional Record Letter

Congressman Ted Deutch provided a Congressional Record stating, “The Go SOLAR Broward Rooftop Challenge provides an important service to the county by making solar power more accessible to local residents and businesses."
