Children’s Services Board
The purpose of the Children’s Services Board is to improve life for the children of Broward County; be the focus for the planning and coordination of services for and on behalf of the children; be considered a principal source of knowledge and wisdom in the community regarding the special needs of children; serve as an advocate for children’s services; function as an independent entity providing an annual plan and funding recommendations on children’s services to the Broward County Board of County Commissioners.
Community Partnerships Division staff provides support to this advisory board that recommends to the Board of County Commissioners which programs should be funded to provide health and child care services to children and their families.

This ordinance re-established the Children’s Services Board effective February 11, 2003 in the role of an advisory board to review proposals and make annual funding recommendations. The Board consists of 10 Broward County Commission appointees including one appointee from each of the nine commissioners, one consumer appointed by the entire Board of County Commissioners, and six (6)designated appointees by virtue of their position or professional capacity that include:
- representative from the School Board and the Superintendent of Schools or designee
- representative from the Department of Children and Families
- representative from the Department of Juvenile Justice
- designee of the Children’s Consortium of Broward County
- County Commissioner
The charge of the Board is to improve the life of the children of Broward County and to:
- focus on planning and coordination of services
- serve as a principle source of knowledge for the special needs of children
- serve as an advocate for children’s services
- function as an independent entity providing annual evaluation and funding recommendations on children’s services

HIV Health Planning Council
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners serves as chief elected officials for the purposes of applying for, receiving, and distributing federal Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act funds. The HIV Health Planning Council establishes priorities for the allocation of funds within Broward County; develops a comprehensive plan for the organization and delivery of health care services; and assists the County in applying for grants pursuant to the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act.

Homeless Initiative Partnership Advisory Board
The Homeless Initiative Partnership (HIP) Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Broward County Commission, making recommendations to the Board for the establishment and implementation of joint local homeless assistance and the Homeless Initiative Partnership (HIP) programs with municipalities and private entities within Broward County.
