Administration Roles

Human Services Department staff may serve in two roles:

1. Field Instructor, and 2. Task Manager with the University Student Practicum Program.

Field Instructor & Task Manager

Field Instructor (Practicum Supervisor): Human Services staff who have been designated as the agency-based supervisor/instructor and are responsible for orienting the student to the agency, assigning and teaching relevant and appropriate practice experiences, and evaluating student performance. The primary responsibility is student’s learning in the field placement to reinforce the student’s identification with the purposes, values, and ethics of the profession associated with their field of study; to foster the integration of empirical and practice-based knowledge; and to promote the development of professional skills and competencies.

Task Manager: Human Services staff who have been designated as the agency-based task supervisor to assume specific responsibilities for a student’s learning on a task, case, project, or experience.  The Task Supervisor does not replace the Field Instructor and must work in collaboration with the Field Instructor to ensure that the student’s learning goals are being met and regular feedback is provided.
