Purpose
To provide workforce services to the residents and employers of Broward County; to assist job seeks, economically disadvantaged adults and youth, and dislocated workers to obtain services, skills and employment leading to self sufficiency.

Created By

Interlocal Agreement between the Broward County Commission and the Cities of Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood, November 20, 1973, pursuant to Florida Statutes Chapter 163.01 (7), creating a consortium called the Broward Manpower Council (BMC) to administer employment and training programs in Broward County.

The BMC changed its name to the Broward Employment and Training Administration (BETA) in the mid seventies and more recently adopted the name change, the Workforce One Council, to reflect the expanded scope of its activities in workforce development.
