Ebony Broadsides Celebration of the Masters

Exhibit features posters of leading African American artists as original pieces of art and expressions of racial pride. Represented are important masters such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold, Betye Saar, John Biggers, Lois Mailou Jones, Benny Andrews, Gordon Parks, Roy DeCarava, Ernie Barnes, Oliver Johnson, Ed Clark and more.

The show also includes original signed poster art of Elizabeth Catlett, Romare Bearden, Samella Lewis, Barkley Hendricks, James Denmark and Basil Watson, with special artist proofs and studies by Ernie Barnes and A.C. Hollingsworth. This exhibition will also be enhanced with posters from AARLCC's Special Collection.

Founder of Hampton Art Lovers and curator of “Ebony Broadsides,” Christopher Norwood, will offer free curator talks and tours of the exhibit. Groups and schools are encouraged to schedule visits.
