​1. Old Courthouse – knock down

[Broward County Judicial Complex 500-Car Enabling Work (District 4)]

Planned abatement work on all floors complete. Abatement of isolated unforeseenasbestos containing material on all floors in progress. Soft interior demolition onall floors of central and west buildings complete. Full interior demolition isapproximately 70% complete. Structural demolition and fabrication of the EastWing west wall expected to be completed by Mid-2026.

2. Parking Garage next to Courthouse

Knocking down of the Old Courthouse will allow for construction to proceed. Thenotice to proceed for early bid items was issued to the Managing GeneralContractor (MGC) September 18, 2025, allowing it to procure long-lead items priorto construction commencement. Construction of the Garage and Plaza is expectedto commence in Summer 2026 and extend for approximately 16 months (i.e.,project completion attainment in November 2027), noting that the parking garagecompletion is expected to occur in mid-2027. The contract for construction,including the revised project budget, was approved at the January 22, 2026, Boardof County Commissioners (BCC) regular meeting.

3. Commission Building

[Broward County Government Center (District 8)]

On January 20, 2026, the BCC held a workshop meeting which included discussion regarding the status of the new Governmental Center project. The BCC requested for Staff to return on February 17, 2026, with a thorough workshop presentation on the topic. The Design Criteria Professional is continuing to revise the Design Criteria Package (DCP), which is required by statute, to incorporate direction provided by County Administration. The Design Consultant for demolition of the existing Gore Building is revising the 100% Construction Documents for submittal to the Building Department in late January 2026, after which, the documents will be prepared for bidding. The Environmental Consultant submitted the Site Assessment Report to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in November 2025, received FDEP's feedback and submitted follow-up responses to FDEP on January 20, 2026. Options for remediation of the site will be based on FDEP's final determination.

4. Water Dept. Construction for PFAS.

[PFAS Water Treatment and Transmission System Improvements (Districts 4, 9)]

Preliminary engineering activities continue for WTP 1A and 2A sites, including data collection, evaluation of existing conditions and as-built plans, site surveys, and preliminary site layouts. Installation of the pilot plant to test filter medium is expected in early 2026. The pilot plant test plan preparation and coordination activities are ongoing. The transmission main route analysis is in progress and preliminary routing concepts are under review. Staff prepared the scope of work and evaluation criteria for the Request for Proposal (RFP) to retain a Managing General Contractor (MGC) for the project.

5. Regional Biosolids Facility

Stakeholder coordination continues in formalizing Interlocal Agreements (ILA) for next phase of work. During a stakeholder meeting held on December 17, 2025, several participants reported plans to present the ILA to their respective boards in January and February 2026. Three (i.e., Cities of Margate, Miramar, and Plantation) out of ten utilities, have approved the ILA. Staff prepared the scope of services for the design consultant and is drafting the necessary procurement documents for the Request for Proposal (RFP).

6. Transportation OPtionS (TOPS) Program Services

[Delegation item during the December 9, 2025, Board of County Commissioners meeting]

Broward County Transportation (BCT) staff continues to work with community members and nonprofit partners to address issues raised during the December 9, 2025, Board meeting. Specifically, to address the concerns regarding quality and safety of the paratransit fleet, all 355 vehicles were inspected of which 15 required the grab rail to be tightened; repairs were completed during the inspection, no other defects were identified.

During the January 22, 2026, Board meeting, the Board directed staff to establish an emergency phone number for the TOPS program. BCT Staff is coordinating with its existing call center vendor and the County's 311 call center to develop a solution by the February 3rd, 2026, Board meeting.

7. Broward County Transportation (BCT) Fleet & Bus Routes

BCT is in the process of overhauling its fleet, which includes the procurement of 130 new buses (contract executed on January 15, 2026), new bus rentals, and engine overhauls. These investments will improve system reliability, allow for expanded service, and enhance the customer experience. In addition, new service changes went into effect on January 18, 2026. Examples of these changes include expanded service on Route 7 between Pembroke Lakes Mall and Young's Circle, improved frequencies on Route 4 between Hallandale Beach Blvd and the FTL Tri-Rail Station, and a more efficient routing stop on Route 48, where Sunday service was added back in Fall 2025. The new Winter 2026 schedule update has been communicated through normal channels, including customer alerts, digital communications, social media, media advisories, signage, earned media, etc.​
