  • Can I request a specific type of treatment?
The Mosquito Control Section does not accept requests for specific type of “spraying/treatment." All requests are evaluated, and treatment is determined based on the presence and type of mosquitoes. This may involve the performance of an onsite inspection, or surveillance data gathering.
  • When are spray activities performed?
If spraying is recommended by Mosquito Control staff, spraying activities are conducted between the hours of 12:00AM to 6:00AM.
  • When are inspections performed?
Inspections are performed throughout the day. Inspectors will need contact information to call the requestor to verify location and access to the property.
  • Can I make an appointment for an inspection?
Inspections are scheduled on a first come first served basis. Inspectors will call the requestor prior to arriving at the property to verify the address and request access to the property.
  • Can I place a service request for someone else besides myself?
We cannot accept service request from someone other than the property owner or someone who resides in the residence. Please have the property owner/resident contact us, or they may complete a service request online.

  • How soon will you get to my area after my request is submitted?
Your request will be addressed in a timely manner and in the order received. Please note that during the warmer summer months there is a high volume of requests which may impact our response time.
  • How do I set up a weekly spray schedule for my area?
We do not offer a weekly or any other scheduled service.
  • How will I know my area has been serviced? Will I get a call back?
A notice of completion will be sent to the requester via email or text message.
  • My neighbor's pool has been untreated for weeks; the mosquitoes seem to be coming from there. What can I do?
You can report concerns to your municipality's Code Enforcement for the pool to be maintained. In addition, you can submit a service request for your property for evaluation and treatment in your area. If surveillance data reveals that your area meets the criteria, we may perform truck spray which may address the mosquitoes coming from the pool.
  • Can you spray/treat the preserve/lake/canal?
It depends. Large water bodies such as lakes or canals often harbor mosquito larval predators such as fish, dragonflies, and other predators. However, where there is aquatic vegetation on the edges or floating on the surface of the water, mosquito production may occur.

State regulations restrict directly applying mosquito control products to lakes and canals. Depending on your location, your city or HOA governance may help with removing aquatic vegetations from the lakes that may be harboring mosquitoes.

We can send one of our staff to visit the site and determine proper treatment to minimize the impact to the ecosystem.
  • I saw on the news/newspaper/newsletter that you will be spraying but my area is not included. Will my area be covered next?
Areas are treated when certain factors are met which include requests from residents, requests from the Department of Health and surveillance data.
  • How can we get aerial spraying for our area?
Areas to be sprayed by airplane must meet State requirements. These areas are determined by the Mosquito Control Section after specific requirements have been met.

  • What should I do with my pets/animals that are outside?
Our products are safe and applications are determined by the chemical labels for the given product. They will not affect pets, but we do recommend you bring your pets inside during the time spraying activities are scheduled.
  • I was not notified of any aerial spraying/wide area larviciding activities being conducted in my area?
Broward County works with the local municipalities to provide appropriate notice to residence when aerial spraying is conducted. We also issue news releases and publish our aerial spraying and wide area larviciding linked at the top of our website under "News Release".
  • Who can I contact if I have a problem with bees?
Please contact a local beekeeper or pest control service company.
