The Land Stewardship Program was created in 2008 providing funding for the ecological restoration of conservation and other publicly-owned natural lands and for the expedited development of bond-acquired green space and open space sites through two grant programs: "Partners in Preservation" and "Parks for People". It is also tasked with monitoring and ensuring appropriate management of the 2000 Safe Parks and Land Preservation Bond Program acquired sites through the "Keep It Green" Monitoring Program.
The “Parks for People” Grant Program was a five-year capital improvement program to expedite and supplement the development of Bond-acquired Green Space and Open Space sites that propose use of "green components”. These "green components" are facilities or services provided above and beyond approved sites’ master plan.
