In April 2022, 17-year-old Aden Perry tragically lost his life when he selflessly tried to save the life of a driver whose car went into a lake. Aden's mom, Sarah Perry, established the Aden Perry Good Samaritan and Scholarship Fund and the Hero Life Ring Initiative. The initiative's mission is to save lives by installing life rings by bodies of water to prevent another good Samaritan from entering the water and potentially suffering the same fate as Aden. Life rings are installed at these Broward County Parks:
1. Easterlin Park
2. Everglades Holiday Park
3. Loggerhead Park & Mooring Field
4. Markham Park & Target Range
5. Reverend Samuel Delevoe Memorial Park
6. Vista View Park
7. West Lake Park
