Oversight Board Position

​​​Broward County is accepting applications for the Independent Transportation Surtax Oversight Board in the category of Architecture.

The purpose of the Oversight Board is to provide accountability and transparency in the expenditure of Transportation Surtax proceeds by confirming the statutory eligibility and providing ongoing oversight of Transportation Surtax projects and expenditures.

The Oversight Board is comprised of 9 members including one professional in the category of Architecture described as “a person who holds a professional degree and has practical experience in Architecture.”

The average time commitment of an Oversight Board member is one full day per month. The Board is only required by ordinance to meet quarterly;  however, the Board has chosen to meet more frequently to accomplish its goals. Members serve four-year terms which began in January 2019. The candidate chosen will fulfill the remaining four-year term. An alternate will also be selected.

If the candidate selected to fill the Architecture position is unable or unwilling to serve within 45 days of appointment, the alternate will be appointed to fill the position.

To be considered, applications for the Oversight Board position shall include the following:

  • Resume
  • Certification of No Conflict of interest
  • Personal Statement of Interests that includes:

    • Identification of the vacant category for which the applicant wishes to be considered
    • Applicants relevant experience
    • Whether the applicant had previously been nominated by an Appointing Authority entity and, if so, which entity
    • Whether the applicant has been involved in the provision of transportation services or the construction of infrastructure (such as roads, bridges, highways, or rail)
