Broward County Planning Council encourages interested parties to use the remote participation option whenever possible. This option promotes social distancing, while still offering interested parties the opportunity to participate in matters coming before the Council. See below for remote participation instructions.
To Speak on an Agenda Item (Remotely)
To comment on an item remotely, you must have:
- Access to the internet (to register)
- A working email address (to receive your confirmation code)
- A telephone (to dial in to the meeting)
If you do not have the ability to view the meeting or provide public comment and wish to do so, please notify us at 954-357-6695 or physical mailing address (115 S. Andrews Ave, Suite 307, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301) at least three days before the meeting.
Any persons wishing to speak on an agenda item remotely via telephone must pre-register no later than 8:00 a.m. on the day of the meeting. When there is an upcoming event, the remote speaker form
will appear here approximately 8 days prior to the meeting.
The link will direct you to an Event Services Registration Form that will look similar to this:
All fields on the Event Services Registration Form marked with a red asterisk are required. If you are registering to speak on multiple items, please enter all the item numbers in the Agenda Item # field.
After submitting your registration form online, you will receive an email with a telephone number to call and a personalized access code. It will look similar to this:
If the code is not received, please check your spam or junk folder.
On the day of the meeting:
Call the telephone number you are given and enter your personalized access code. You can call up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. Your call will be answered, and you will be put into a "Listen Only" mode until your item is up for discussion.
When it is time for you to speak, the conference operator will unmute your line. Please make sure your phone is unmuted. If you cannot be heard when your name is called, press #2.
If you are going to be watching the webcast/broadcast from a remote location, please mute the speaker on the device you are watching from BEFORE your line is unmuted to speak. This will help prevent feedback on the webcast/broadcast.
At the conclusion of an item(s) discussion, you can either hang up or stay on the line and listen to the rest of the meeting.
To Speak on an Agenda Item (In Person - Masks Required)
If you wish to speak in person at a Planning Council meeting, we encourage you to pre-register with a remote speaker form
(available approximately 8 days prior to the meeting), and writing “in person” next to your Agenda Item #. This will allow us to expect you in person and prepare the room for social distancing purposes. This will also produce a call-in number that will be emailed to you if unable to attend in person.
On the day of the meeting, you must register in person at the Governmental Center, 115 Andrews Ave., Room 422, Fort Lauderdale, beginning at 9:00 a.m. To allow adequate time to coordinate the speakers registered to participate by phone, and to facilitate social distancing of in-person speakers, registration forms must be turned in by 10:00 a.m. on the day of the meeting.
Speakers must check in with first floor Security and proceed to the designated registration area on the fourth floor. Members of the public appearing in person must wear a facial covering at all times.
