​Broward County's Health Care Services Section is the local Recipient of both the Ryan White Part A and Ryan White: Ending the HIV Epidemic programs. As the Recipient of these programs, we provide HIV treatment and care services in an effort to end the HIV epidemic.

Ryan ​White HIV/AIDS Program Part A

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Part A Program is a comprehensive system of care providing medical and essential support services for people living with HIV.  Broward County receives Part A Formula, Supplemental, and Minority AIDS Initiative funding. ​

To receive Ryan White Part A services, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a person with HIV
  • Be a resident of Broward County
  • Have an income less than or equal to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level for Integrated Primary Care, APA, & CIED
  • Have an FPL Requirement of <=300% FPL for: Insurance Support, Oral Health, Non-Medical/Medical Case Management, Emergency Financial Assistance
  • Have and FPL Requirement of 150% for: Food Bank and Food Voucher for Ryan White Part A

Services provided by the Ryan White Part A program are listed below. Click here​ to view the Service Providers.

  Medical Case Management Services: Provides coordination, guidance, and assistance in accessing medical services and assisting clients in self-managing their HIV and other health conditions.

  Non-medical Case Management: Provides coordination, guidance, and assistance in accessing support and other needed services.

  Health Insurance Premium and Cost Sharing Assistance: Provides financial assistance to pay for medical visit co-pays and deductibles.

  Food Services: Food voucher and food bank services. 

  Mental Health Services: Provides mental health screenings, treatment, and counseling.

  Oral Health Care: Provides dental care.

  Outpatient/Ambulatory Health Services: Provides outpatient medical care, including screenings, treatment, and referrals.

  AIDS Pharmaceutical Assistance: Supplies medications that are on the Ryan White formulary.

  Substance Abuse Outpatient: Provides medical or other treatment services for substance use disorders.

  Centralized Intake and Eligibility Determination: Determines client eligibility for Ryan White Part A services.

  Legal Services: Provides legal services such as getting Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).

Ryan White Part A recipients must have an HIV Planning Council, consisting of people with HIV, community members, and service providers. Broward County's is called the HIV Health Services Planning Council (HIVPC). HIVPC is HIVPC has many important responsibilities, including ranking service categories based on client needs and determining how much money each service category will receive.  To find out more about HIVPC and how to join, click here.

Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S (EHE)

Broward County's EHE program provides linkage and support services for people with HIV.

To receive EHE services, you must meet the following requirement:

      1. Be a person with HIV

M​edical Case Man​agement Services: Provides coordination, guid​ance, and assistance in accessing medical services and assisting clients in self-managing their HIV and other health conditions.

Non-medical Case Management: Provides coordination, guidance, and assistance in accessing suppo​rt and other needed services.

Peer Support Services (PS): Connects clients with Peers—individuals with similar lived experiences—to encourage and help them remain actively involved in care.

Food Services: Food voucher and food bank services. 

Medical Transportation (MT): Ride-share services to attend medical and support service appointments.

Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS): Services to locate, link, and reengage clients into medical care.​​

Care Support Services: Provides housing case management and transitional and short-term housing assistance in the form of rental and utility assistance.​
