Broward County no longer requires Tree Trimming contractors to hold a Certificate of Competency (License) as of July 1, 2025 due to the changes taking affect with Florida House of Representatives HB 735. This also includes the requirement for the Broward County Extension Education for Tree Trimming Training Couse and passing the examination from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA)​​.

Broward County and the Resilient Environement Department (RED) encourages anyone operating as a tree trimmer to attend the education on properly maintaing our beautiful trees here in south Florida by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)​ or the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA)​​.
