North Building of Judicial Complex Named for Judge Thomas Reddick, Jr.

The north wing of the Broward County Judicial Complex is now known as the Judge Thomas J. “TJ” Reddick, Jr. North Building in honor of the former judge and founder of the TJ Reddick Bar Association. Judge Reddick was the first Black attorney to: open an office and practice law in Broward County, be appointed to the Broward County Court of Record, and be elected to serve as Circuit Court Judge in the State of Florida. The official naming ceremony took place on Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration commencing the end of slavery in the United States.

Courthouse Naming Honors Walter G. “Skip” Campbell, Jr.

The Broward County Judicial Complex West Building has been named in honor of Walter G. “Skip” Campbell, Jr., one of the most respected and beloved members of our community. Skip was a prominent attorney, served as a state senator and mayor of Coral Springs. He was President of the Broward County Bar Association, the Broward Young Lawyer’s Association, and the Federal Bar Association. He co-founded Krupnick and Campbell in 1974 and was a tireless advocate for justice in our community, state and country. Skip was a caring person who fought for the underdog and gave back generously to his community. Mayor Mark D. Bogen and County Commissioners along with Skip’s family, colleagues and friends were on hand to honor him and recognize his indelible mark on our community.
