Old West Wing Demolition
Demolition will begin shortly on the old West and Central wings. The County anticipates a Notice to Proceed in September 2017, however; that depends on the project’s permitting status and Contractor insurance finalization. During the demolition, the East Wing will be temporarily enclosed and extended barricades and protections will be placed along SE Sixth Street.
Judges’ Garage and Public Plaza
The Central Wing and old East Wing of the Courthouse will be demolished and replaced by a secure 500-car Judges Garage, and a public plaza including public art. The estimated cost is $14.9 million, of which $610,000 has been allocated to fund a public art project in the Pedestrian Bridge connecting the plaza to the Riverwalk area. The garage is scheduled for completion in 2018.
