Broward County is the designated Collaborative Applicant and the Advisory Board Coordinator for the Broward County Homeless Continuum of Care (HCoC) Board. Broward County also is the designated Lead Agency for the HCoC's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The County provides support to the Local Homeless Providers and Stakeholders Council which meets monthly to discuss strategies and points of advocacy to end homelessness in the County.
The Human Services Department is committed to ending homelessness in Broward County. We believe every County resident deserves a place to call home, and we are doing our part to make this a reality. Through collaboration with a network of community-based organizations, advocates, residents, and local businesses, the County is addressing homelessness at its root causes and forging a new path for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Our Mission To ensure that homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring in Broward County. The Division accomplishes this through increased collaboration and civic engagement with all stakeholders. Implementing a strategic plan embraced by the entire community ensures that the goals are focused, strategies implemented, and outcomes achieved.
This would include the creation of a homeless services crisis response system with the resources, staff and capacity to impact the changing landscape of our community’s homeless needs. The division will operate under evidence-based best practices to create a system that is responsive to the individual circumstances of each person served.
