Courthouse Construction Updates

The construction project for the new Judicial Complex in Broward County is extensive and ongoing. Recently completed are the 20-story West Building, the South Parking Garage for employees and the renovated Midrise Building. Once completed, the downtown Fort Lauderdale Judicial Complex will consist of the new West Building, a completely renovated East Wing, improvements to the North Wing, the South Parking Garage, Central Parking Garage and Midrise Building.

LEED Building is Good Business

The renovated Midrise Building has achieved a Gold-level Leadership in Energy Efficiency and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, recognition by the United States Green Building Council of the project’s high level of sustainable design and operation. The new West Building’s LEED Gold certification is in the final stages of approval. The South Parking Garage, while not LEED certified, was designed and is now operating utilizing the same LEED standards as required for certification.

Why is LEED certification important? A LEED certified building is designed for energy efficiency and long-term sustainability. That results in better indoor air quality, energy savings and lower cost of operations. Studies show that employees who work in LEED certified buildings feel more productive and energized.
