What We Need and Why We Need It!

Thanks so much for helping!  Whether you are collecting newspapers, stopping by the store, or shopping online, our dogs and cats will always appreciate your generosity!

Everyday Items

Our pets keep us busy!  With lots of furry friends to care for, we ALWAYS need the following basic items.

  • Canned dog or cat food
  • Dry dog or cat food
  • Cat litter (non-clumping)
  • Newspapers
  • Pet Shampoo/Pet Conditioner
  • Pet grooming supplies (brushes, combs)

Bedding

Soft bedding can increase comfort and well being during an animal's stay at our Adoption Center.

  • Fleece Blankets (small or large)
  • Towels and washcloths (gently used)
  • Sheets (gently used)
  • Dog Beds

Mama Cat and Kittens

We always have Mother cats and baby kittens.  Sometimes the babies are orphaned, so bottles and formula are always needed!

  • Kitten bottles and nipples
  • MNR (kitten milk replacement) formula
  • Heating pads

Treats for Dogs and Cats

Pet treats are always a favorite with our dogs and cats!  Not only do they make a yummy snack, but they help us with training, particularly highly-valued treats such as hot dogs and cheese!  Such treats allow us to reinforce and shape new behaviors and skills.  We find that they are very helpful for improving the pet's quality of life while at our Adoption Center, which ultimately makes our pets more appealing to potential adopters!
  • Soft dog treats
  • Cat treats
  • String Cheese
  • Hot dogs
  • Squeeze Cheese
  • Squeeze ups

Enrichment Items

These items help provide outlets for typical dog or cat behavior (such as foraging and sniffing).  They greatly help improve a pet's mental well being during their stay with us.
  • Treat dispensing toys
  • Snuffle Mats
  • Kongs (all sizes)
  • Cat toys
  • Empty cereal boxes (or similar-type boxes)
  • Empty paper towel rolls

Florida Animal Friend License Plate

Residents interested in helping reduce pet overpopulation in Florida can purchase the Florida Animal Friend Spay/Neuter license plate. The specialty plate is available at any auto tag office and is priced at $25 above the standard renewal fee. Proceeds are distributed through grants to non-profit and government animal control agencies to fund programs that promote pet sterilization through spay/neuter.

Controlling pet overpopulation reduces the number of unwanted puppies and kittens, dogs and cats in our community, thereby reducing the number of homeless animals that end up in shelters and if not adopted, euthanized.

Florida Animal Friend, Inc. is a coalition of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Animal Control Association, The Humane Society of the United States, and local animal advocates.

For more information, call 954-316-8621.
