2025  ​Awards of Excellen​ce

​​​​​​​The National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO), an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) with members from more than 3,000 counties, parishes and boroughs across the United States, hosts its annual Awards of Excellence to recognize excellence in public information and community outreach efforts by local governments in a variety of categories including: Annual Reports, Audiovisua​l Productions, Brochures, Community Engagement, Electronic Communications, Graphic Design, Publications, Social Media and Writing.

Broward County received 25 NACIO Awards of Excellence in the 2025 competition for its quality of its public information and public education outreach ​campaigns. Here are the winners in each category:

Two ​Best of Category Awards

  • Broward County Tran​sit: Celebrating Women's History Month  campaign highlighting the strength, unity, and impact of the women across the agency. (Social Media - Multi-Platform Campaign category)​

  • Natural Resources Division: Illustrating a Day About Water​ vid​eo on the artistic design of the annual Water Matters Day event. (Audiovisual - Medium Length Video, 1-5 minutes category)

Nine Superior Awards

  • Broward County Transit (four awards): Service in Motion: Broward County Transit Bus Operator's Heroic Act Inspires Community​, a story highlighting a powerful, real-life example of public service at its best. (Writing - Featured Article/Editorial - 500-700 Words); American Family Day​, a heartfelt social media video honoring families who ride and the everyday stories that unfold along the way. (Social Media - Multi-Platform Campaign); Get Ready to Ride Broward County Transit, a video aimed to increase public transit ridership. (Audiovisual - Short Video - Under 60 seconds) Panthers Express: BCT's Winning Playoff Ride to the NHL Finals (Writing - Article 250-500 Words)
  • Office of Public Communications (two awards): @ Your Service: 2025 Resident Guide providing residents, businesses and​ visitors with comprehensive information on County services and programs. (Printed Publications - Multi-Page Education Booklet category); All You Need to Know About Traffic Lights Displaya dual-part, three-dimensional, interactive display with valuable info on the different roadways connecting the cities and towns making up Broward County. ​(Graphic Design - t-shirts/posters/banners/ads)

  • Broward County Library (two awards): The 23rd Annual Story Book Festival photo series captures the excitement and engagement of more than 2,000 attendees. (Photo/Photo Series); Sunny the Manatee Library Card Sign-up Month​ campaign to build excitement for the new card, engage the community and promote the importance and use of a library card.​ (Campaigns - Quality of Life - parks, libraries, environmental, etc.)

  • Construction Management Division: Automated Project Financial Reporting Portal to improve the ​process of financial transparency and reporting in project budgets. ​(Electronic Communications - Websites category)

  • Broward County Library (three awards): Honor Our Veterans: Bill Fritz video series in honor of Veterans Day featuring an employee who served in the military for 21 years. (Audiovisual - Long Video - More than 5 minutes); Broward County Library Website​ a vital digital community hub, providing 3.5 million visitors annually with an engaging platform for entertainment, information and education. ​(Electronic Communications - Websites); Moon Rock Party photo of a girl against a backdrop of the library’s glass walls containing a small exhibit with a genuine piece of moon rock. (Photo/Photo Series)

  • Broward County Transit (three awards): Sports Themed Bus Wrap Collection, a series of bus wraps designed to celebrate sporting events relevant to the community. (Graphic Design - t-shirts/posters/banners/ads); Florida Panthers Championship Social Media Campaign​ connecting the brand with the celebration and making public transportation part of the championship experience. (Social Media - Multi-Platform Campaign); From Curiosity to Commute: The Just Try it Campaign ​aimed to change perceptions around public transportation and encourage residents to integrate transit into their daily routines. (Campaigns - Community Engagement)

  • Resilient Environment Department: Stay Heat Safe​ flyer to raise awareness of the adverse health implications associated with exposure to extreme heat ​(Printed Publications - Short One-Page/Trifold) ​
  • Broward County Cultural Division: Visualizing Impact: The State of the Arts Logo created as a bold, unifying visual identity for the inaugural State of the Arts Address​ (Graphic Design - Logo)
