2026 ​Awards of Excellen​ce

The National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO), an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) with members from more than 3,000 counties, parishes and boroughs across the United States, hosts its annual Awards of Excellence to recognize excellence in public information and community outreach efforts by local governments in a variety of categories including: Annual Reports, Audiovisua l Productions, Brochures, Community Engagement, Electronic Communications, Graphic Design, Publications, Social Media and Writing.​​

Broward County received 14 NACIO Awards of Excellence, including the Judges Award (Best of Show) in the 2026 competition for its quality of its public information and public education outreach campaigns. ​Broward County Animal Care received the Judges Award (Best of Show) for its Shelter Capacity Crisis response campaign. 

​Broward County Transit (four awards):

• Fresh Ride, Bright Vibe Campaign to elevate public perception of Broward County Transit by emphasizing its commitment to cleanliness, comfort and rider care. (Campaigns – Community Engagement) 
• Broward County Transit's CEO/General Manager Electronic Newsletter to Broward County employees highlighting employees and everyday moments that reflect their contributions. (Electronic Communications: E-mail Newsletter) 
• 2026 Florida Panthers Championship social media campaign promoting an affordable and convenient way to attend championship games for residents and local hockey community. (Campaigns - Social Media) ​
  
• Go Cats! photo series capturing the Florida Panthers' 2025 Stanley Cup Celebration and Transit's support. (Photography) 

Animal Care Division (three awards including the Judges Award):​

• Declaring a “911 for Pets": How Broward County Leveraged Community-First Communications to Combat an Animal Shelter Space Crisis for getting the community involved to adopt, foster or share the message about overcrowded kennels.​ ​(Judges Award) and (Campaigns-Crisis Response) ​
• Pets Are Family Too: Broward County Animal Care Is Here for You article in the Westside Gazette. (Writing: Long Article)
  

Broward County Library (three awards):

• Library Annual Report, a digital communication tool designed to showcase the library system's accomplishments, impact, and strategic progress over the year. (Audiovisual – Long Video (More than 5 minutes)
• Featured Stories Video Series, a dynamic and innovative approach to storytelling, education, and community engagement. (Audio Visual - Video Series)
• Florida Panthers Summer Reading Tour, a photograph that captures a dynamic moment from the 2025 Florida Panthers Summer Reading Tour and promotes the library's annual Summer Learning Program and the Panthers Summer Reading Tour. (Photography)
  

Mobility Advancement Program – MAP Broward (two awards): 

• Launch of the New and Improved MAPBroward.org (Electronic Communications: Website) and (Graphic Design: Logo) 

Public Works and Environmental Services Department:

• Broward Resilience Newsletter focusing on the Department's long-term resilience activities, active projects, and recent and forthcoming events to keep leadership, partners, and residents up to date. (Printed Publications (Newsletter) 
  

Consumer Protection Division: 

• ​Public Information Brochure: “An Informed Consumer is a Protected Consumer" designed to educate, empower, and protect Broward County residents from scams, fraud, and unfair business practices before financial harm occurs. (Printed Publications (Short One-page Tri-fold)​
