The Housing and Urban Planning Division offers Affordable Housing Trust Funds (AHTF) to qualified buyers.
Assistance is provided as a deferred-payment second mortgage at 0% interest and a 15-year term.

AHTF Program Overview
- Funding Limit: Up to $100,000 is available per household
- Eligibility: Households must earn below 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
- Location: Eligible properties can be located anywhere in Broward County
- Availability: Funds are allocated by commission district on a first-come, first-qualified, first-served basis
- Maximum sales price of $679,324.
Instructions
Take a Homebuyer Education class from a
Certified HUD-approved Counseling Agency. Download a list of local agencies here or visit the HUD web
Obtain first mortgage approval from a lender, or select a lender from the
Participating Lenders List and contact them directly.

Identify the commission district where the property being purchased is located and confirm that funds are available for that district.
Once you have identified a property, your LENDER will need to contact our office for further instructions on how to proceed.
The lender emails our office to reserve funds and to obtain further instructions.
Note: Our income certification approval and funding process takes 5-6 weeks after we receive the lender's package.
Homebuyer's gross annual household income must be certified by Broward County.
Program Features:
- The buyer must contribute three percent (3%) of the purchase price; this does not apply to VA loans.
- A comprehensive home inspection report is required
- You may purchase an existing home or a new construction home
- You must own and occupy the home as your primary residence
- Eligible properties include single-family residences, condominiums, villas, and townhomes located within Broward County service areas. Mobile homes and cooperatives are not eligible.
