​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Housing and Urban Planning Division offers Home Buyer Purchase Assistance to qualified home buyers. 
Assistance is provided as a deferred-payment second mortgage at 0% interest and a 15-year term. ​

​For information on income eligibility and fund availability, refer to the HPA ​flyer​.

Your lender will apply on the client's behalf; we don't offer online applications.

If you're purchasing in a city not listed in the HPA flyer, please contact that city directly to inquire about their possible purchase assistance programs.​

Funds are available on a first-come, first-qualified, first-served basis. ​​

Instructions​​

  1. Take a Homebuyer Education class from a Certified HUD-approved Counseling Agency. Download​​ a list of local agencies here or visit the HUD w​eb

  2. Obtain first mortgage approval from a lender, or select a lender from the Participating Lenders List and contact them directly. ​​​​

  3. ​Eligible properties must be in one of the areas listed below, with a maximum sales price of $679,324; a higher maximum price may be available in Weston. Once you have identified a property in one of the areas listed below, your LENDER will need to contact our office for further instructions on how to proceed. ​

Note: Our income certification approval and funding process takes 5-6 weeks after we receive the lender's package.

​​​Homebuyer's gross annual household income must be certified by Broward County. ​


​Program Features:

  • The buyer must contribute three percent (3%) of the purchase price; this does not apply to VA loans.​
  • A comprehensive Home Inspection report is required
  • You may purchase an existing home or a new construction home
  • You must own and occupy the home as your primary residence
  • Eligible properties include single-family residences, condominiums, villas, and townhomes located within Broward County service areas. Mobile homes and cooperatives are not eligible.​​​​​​​​
