Guide to the Snip Program
A voucher-based program
The SNIP Program is a voucher-based program that provides free or low-cost sterilization services for owned dogs and cats. The program is available only to Broward County residents.
SNIP services include:
Spay/neuter surgery
Rabies vaccination
Please be advised that participating providers may require additional services, such as bloodwork or post-surgery pain medication, which are not covered by the SNIP voucher.

SNIP Program Vouchers Available!
October 2025 – We will begin accepting new SNIP Program voucher requests beginning November 1. Voucher requests will only be accepted by email. A limited number of requests will be accepted each month. If your request is not accepted, you will need to submit a new voucher request at the beginning of the next month.
Please note the following important details:
- Eligibility: Only dogs over 45 pounds qualify for the voucher program. There are no weight restrictions for cats.
- Voucher Expiration: Vouchers expire on the date indicated on each voucher and cannot be extended. If your voucher expires, you will need to apply for a new one.
- Pet Registration Tags: You can purchase registration tags directly from Broward County Animal Care or through participating tag suppliers .
