Rental Coronavirus Relief Assistance

If you have been impacted by COVID19 you may be eligible for rental and/or utility assistance. If you have received an eviction or past due notice from your landlord, and you reside in one of the eligible areas listed below and your maximum household income is below the amount on the chart for your household size, you may be eligible for assistance. To apply, please call any one of the following four numbers and provide your contact information. A representative from Broward County will contact you by telephone and/or e-mail in the order that your information is received. 

Complete applications must be received no later than December 30, 2020.

Homeowner Coronavirus Relief Assistance

Homeowners affected by COVID may apply for up to 10 months’ assistance to pay delinquent mortgage payments, association dues or utility bills.  Eligible homeowners must have current homestead exemption on residences in eligible Broward cities, with household income at or below 140% of the Area Median Income, and have been impacted by COVID. This program is subject to the availability of funds.

Five-Year 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan 

Broward County is an entitlement recipient of federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Community Development Block Grant Programs (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs. In the 2020-2021 Program Year, Broward County anticipates receiving $2,828,381 in CDBG funds, $3,855,021 in HOME funds, and $239,410 in ESG funds. In addition, Broward County anticipates receiving $130,000 in CDBG program income as well as $500,000 in HOME program income. These funds will be used to address community development and housing needs in Broward County. 

Citizens are encouraged to review the final draft of the 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan, and 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan (AAP), which is part of the Consolidated Plan, and provide written comments. Copies of the documents are available for review and comments during a 14-day period commencing Saturday, July 29, 2020 and ending Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Prior to adoption, Broward County Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division (HFCRD) will hold a virtual Public Hearing on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Citizens are encouraged to comment on the proposed Plans. For further information regarding the virtual public hearing, please visit the HFCRD website at www.broward.org/housing. Public Notice for Substantial Change Amendment and Covid-19 (CARES Act) Amendment

Broward County hereby announces that it will be submitting a Substantial Change Amendment Request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for changes to the FY 2015-2019 (5-YEAR) Consolidated Plan (Con Plan). Pursuant to HUD's regulations, the substantial change amends the Citizen Participation Plan which is part of the 5-Year Con Plan, amends the Annual Action Plans (AAP) to include the current HUD program waivers, and increases the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) fund allocation to reflect the additional funding from the CARES Act for the corresponding fiscal years. City of Margate Public Notice for Substantial Change Amendment and COVID-19 (CARES Act) Amendment

The City of Margate hereby announces that the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division (HFCRD) will be submitting a Substantial Change Amendment Request, on behalf of the City of Margate, to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requesting substantial changes to the FY 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan (CP), the Citizen Participation Plan, which is part of the Consolidated Plan, and the FY 2019/2020 Annual Action Plan (AAP). The City will be receiving $224,749 in CDBG-CV funding under the CARES Act funding Allocation. The CDBG-CV funding will be used for Meal Distribution and Rental Assistance.

City of Weston Public Notice for Substantial Change Amendment and COVID-19 (CARES Act) Amendment

The City of Weston hereby announces that the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division (HFCRD) will be submitting a Substantial Change Amendment Request, on behalf of the City of Weston, to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requesting substantial changes to the FY 2016-2020 Consolidated Plan (CP), the Citizen Participation Plan, which is part of the Consolidated Plan, and the FY 2019/2020 Annual Action Plan (AAP). The City will be Receiving $215, 955 in CDBG-CV funding under the CARES Act funding Allocation. The CDBG-CV funding will be used for Rental Assistance.

The Housing Finance Authority of Broward County is a quasi-governmental agency created by Ordinance No. 79-41 of the Broward County Board of Commissioners in June 1979.



Residential District Advisory Board (RAB) Meetings - Pompano Beach 

Established in 2019 as an advisory board to the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, it is tasked with making project recommendations to reduce "slum and blight" within the residential areas of the North West Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Area.
