Delegation Counsel Request for Proposals
The Broward Legislative Delegation Office (“the Delegation") seeks proposals from attorneys to serve as the Delegation's counsel pursuant to our Rules and Regulations. The Delegation Office was created by the Florida Legislature to provide a communication resource between the Federal, State, local governments, and Broward County citizens to facilitate the legislative process.
Applicants must have at least fifteen (15) years as an attorney, including comprehensive expertise and experience in Florida Constitutional Law as well as Comprehensive expertise and experience in Florida Local Government Law and in the workings of the Florida Legislature. Applicant/Candidate should reside in Broward County and/or work primarily in Broward County.
Each proposal must demonstrate with specificity how the applicant meets these criteria. For proposals submitted by law firms, all attorneys within the firm who may provide services to the Delegation must be identified.
Proposals must be submitted to the Delegation office electronically to Andrea Knowles, Executive Director at email@example.com with the subject line “Response to Attorney RFP" or hard copy to Broward Legislative Delegation, 115 South Andrews Ave, Room 429, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. The deadline for proposals is Friday, July 16, 2021. Electronic or hard copy, submissions must be received no later than close of business (5pm) of the deadline date.
The selected attorney(s) will be required to enter a contract with the Delegation office. Among other terms, this contract will provide that no reimbursement will be made for payments by retained counsel to third-party legal research providers. (Posted in the June 27, 2021 Sun-Sentinel).
DELEGATION HAPPENINGS: (All Free and Open to the Public).
DELEGATION EMERGENCY MEETING. The Broward Legislative Delegation is scheduling a meeting for March 22, 2021 at 6pm SITTIG HALL, 301 S. Bronough Street, Tallahassee, FL 32301. The purpose of the meeting is consider changes to four Local Bills that were originally voted on and approved by the Delegation on January 6, 2021. Those bills are: HB-1495, HB-1499, HB-1501, and HB-1503. These four bills were all placed on the agenda on March 19, 2021 to be heard on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 12:45pm in the Local Administration and Veteran Affairs Subcommittee. Since the Legislators are in Session, our Rules allow for the meeting to take place in Tallahassee. (posted by this Office, 3/19/2021; updated to add location 3/22/2021).
