Broward's Approach

Broward County has invested significantly in developing the tools necessary to assist in the work that is critical to planning for and addressing the impact of climate change in our communities. There is no single solution to the climate crisis; therefore, strategies include modeling vulnerabilities and analyzing risks, thoughtful planning, developing sound public policies, convening support through stakeholder involvement, and implementing strategic projects and economic investments.

The county continues to coordinate across departments, municipalities, and the region to become more resilient and develop effective responses to current and future conditions. The county hosts an annual roundtable to facilitate the collaboration and sharing of planning and investments vital to our communities planning for the future.

Resilience Investment Planning

Broward County is looking towards the next fifty years and planning for future conditions predicted as a result of climate change, specifically the impacts of sea level rise with an emphasis on planning and design requirements for development, redevelopment, and investments in infrastructure. As communities are faced with increasingly frequent and severe climate-related impacts, there is a growing appreciation that investments in resilient infrastructure are key to reducing risk, protecting public safety, and stimulating the economy.
