Lower-Level Crosswalk Signalization (Phase 3) 

Issued: January 7,  2019      FLL 2019-18

• Project Work Location: Phase Three: In grassy areas between the Palm Garage and lower-level roadway and on the terminal curbside pedestrian sidewalks for installation of traffic signals at Terminal 2, Terminal 3-South and Terminal 4. Details on subsequent phases will be provided as the project progresses.

• Project Work Hours:  January 2019, 10 PM-6:30AM

• Work Performed: Phase Three: Contractor will be installing conduits, cabling, and foundations in and around Palm Garage and prior to crosswalks on the lower-level roadway.  Lane closures will be implemented only when working on the concrete base pedestals on the terminal curbside pedestrian sidewalks just before the crosswalks on the lower level. 

• Lane closures on the lower-level can only be implemented after the last flight at each specific terminal where the work is being performed. Earlier lane closures can be authorized by the BCAD Operations Duty Supervisor if he/she determines that it will not have a detrimental impact on traffic flow.  A Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) will be in place for all roadway lane closures.

I-595 Ramp to Terminal Drive and Return to Terminal Loop Lane Closures (Update)

Issued: Tuesday, October 30, 2018         FLL 2018-10         

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Project

Project Location: I-595 Ramp to Terminal Drive and Return to Terminal Loop

Work Schedule:  Tuesday, October 30, 2018 through Friday, November 2, 2018 - 9PM to 5AM  

Work Performed:  Southbound U.S. 1 and eastbound Interstate 595 will encounter slower traffic and lane restrictions where their exit ramps for airport traffic merge. Two lanes will be closed on the circular ramp into the airport at any time due to the maintenance work that includes resurfacing the roadway. The affected lanes will vary throughout the week. A Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) will be in place.

• Expect delays entering the Airport

• Two lanes will be blocked each night

Broward Sheriff's Of fice Fire Department Live Fire Burn Training Drill
Issued: October 29, 2018         FLL 2018-00

From: BCAD Operations 

Project: The Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Department will be conducting their annual Live Fire Burn Training Drill in November as part of their FAA Certification.  The drill will take place between Lee Wagener Blvd. and SW 40th St. just west of the FAA tower.

Effective: November 5-17, 2018

Drill schedule: Monday, November 5 through Saturday, November 17, 2018

Time of drill: 9 AM to 1 PM and 6 PM to 10 PM during the specified schedule

BSO Live Fire Burn Drill Image 

North Perimeter Road(SW 34th St) Florida Power & Light Utility Work

Issued: October 23, 2018  FLL 2018-08       

• Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at 10 PM until Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 4 AM.
 
• Edison Power Contractors, on behalf of Florida Power & Light, will install a single 55’ concrete utility pole on the north side of North Perimeter Road, between SW 9th Avenue and SW 11th Avenue and north of the Federal Express Sort Facility.

• North lane of North Perimeter Road will be closed during this installation. A Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) will be in place and traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

Terminal Roadway Arrivals And Departures Level Maximum Clearance Height Restrictions

Issued: October 18, 2018        FLL 2018-07

• The vertical maximum clearance for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Terminal Roadway arrivals and departures levels is thirteen feet (13 ft.)

• This clearance applies to the entire Terminal Roadway width

• This height clearance applies to all vehicles using the Terminal Roadway arrivals and departure levels

Lower-Level Crosswalk Signalization

Issued: October 9, 2018         FLL 2018-04

Project Work Schedule: Tuesday, October 9, 2018 until February 2019.

Project Work Location: Phase One: Inside Palm Garage and in grassy areas between Palm Garage and Lower-Level Roadway. Phase Two: Traffic signalization installation at Pedestrian Crosswalks on Lower Level Roadway at T2, T3-South and T4. Details on subsequent phases will be provided as the project progresses.

Project Work Hours: Phase One: October 2018 – November 2018.  10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Phase Two: November 2018

Work Performed: Phase One: Contractor will be installing conduits, cabling and foundations in and around Palm Garage. No garage drive lanes will be closed and flaggers will be used at all times to control garage traffic around work areas. Phase Two: Traffic signalization installation.

Lane closures on the lower-level can only be implemented after the last flight. Earlier lane closures can be authorized by the BCAD Operations Duty Supervisor if he/she determines that it will not have a detrimental impact on traffic flow.  

A Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) will be in place for all roadway lane closures.

Routine Roadway Review
Issued: October 8, 2018         FLL 2018-03

• Work Schedule: Monday, October 8, 2018, until Friday, November 30, 2018.

• Work Hours: Upper Level 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Lower Level 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

• Work Performed: Review of elevated ramps, bridges, and roadway structures from the Rental Car Center to Terminal # 4.

• All airport facilities/amenities (cell phone lot, sidewalks) will remain operational at all times.

• Lane closures on the lower level and upper-level roadway can only be implemented after the last flight.  Earlier lane closures can be authorized by the BCAD Operations Duty Supervisor if he/she determines that it will not have a detrimental impact on traffic flow.

Yellow Airport Limousine d/b/a GO Airport Shuttle & Executive Car Service Reallocation Operational Areas

Location: Lower level roadway

• On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 1:30 PM, GO Airport Shuttle will relocate from GTA-0 to GTA-1 and from GTA-4 to GTA-3. 

• The operational areas are within the ground transportation areas (GTAs) serving each terminal.

Ground Transportation Area (GTA) GTA-4 Opening and GTA-3 Reallocation of Services

Effective: Friday, August 31, 2018   FLL 2018-24

Project: Ground Transportation Area (GTA) GTA-4 Opening and GTA-3 Reallocation of Services

Location: Lower level roadway

• The GTA-4 area outlined on attached map will open Friday, August 31, 2018, at 4 AM

• The following services will relocate from GTA-3 to GTA-4: Hotel/Motel, Off-Airport Parking, Sun Trolley, Tri-Rail and some cruise operations

• GTA-3: The Airport inter-terminal loop shuttle will relocate from the inside middle island to the outermost curb. Ride-sharing will utilize the inside middle island for guest pick-up associated with Terminals 3 and 4

Relocation of Ride-Sharing Pick-Up Locations

• Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 6:00 a.m.  Ride-Sharing, also known as Transportation Network Companies (TNCs), pick-up locations will be relocated. Ride-Sharing is a prearranged ground transportation service through a smartphone application.
  • New Locations:
    o Lower level only
    o Located on the inner curb of the Ground Transportation Areas (GTAs) between Terminals 1 & 2 and 3 & 4
    o Designated pick-up locations are depicted on the above map.
• Follow Airport signage for Ride-Sharing with a cell phone symbol.

  • 24/7 lower level only.
  • Gate 100 and Garages.
  • Vehicles must be attended at all times and are subject to security inspections.
Between now and November 16th, our enforcement will be reminding drivers of the forthcoming policy.

This policy will be in full effect on November 16th, 2015.
