Notifies airport staff of important operational matters by way of telephone, radio and paging systems.
Coordinates usage of County owned gates and ticket counters using assigned computer software.
Updates the Electric Visual Display System (FIDS, BIDS, ANDS, etc.) as needed.
Coordinates and dispatches appropriate staff regarding operational, maintenance, safety and security related issues; logs and reports complaints (i.e., noise, shuttle, etc.) to staff for appropriate follow-up.
Monitors weather radar sets and disseminates severe weather information to tenants and staff.
Maintains surveillance to ensure security system is operational and monitors security system activities for discrepancies, and dispatches appropriate staff as required.
Monitors all automated equipment systems for fire, security and maintenance alarms, making appropriate notifications when necessary.
Initiates and coordinates airport response and notification of essential local, state and federal agencies to respond to emergencies in support of the “Unified Incident Command” structure; assist with operation of the Emergency Operations Center as required.
Collects, records and compiles information for statistical data on routine and emergency airport conditions relating to safety and security, as well as various operational activities; disseminates information on airport operational conditions, status of construction in progress, and other pertinent airport activities.
Monitors Communication Center equipment, reports equipment problems; records daily all significant events disseminated to and/or from the Communications Center in computerized logs.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of modern communications practices, procedures and equipment.
Knowledge of a modern air carrier airport environment, specialized aircraft requirements and operational parameters.
Knowledge and familiarization of all airport areas, including those of tenant airlines, concessions, etc., and their functions.
Knowledge of safety and security requirements of an airport supporting commercial aviation.
Knowledge of customer service skills and telephone skills and etiquette.
Ability to collect information, accurately document and maintain accurate records, reports and inventory.
Ability to multi-task while performing in a concise, accurate and effective manner under emergency and stressful conditions, with limited supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to detect, report and/or correct hazardous conditions.
Ability to utilize various computerized aviation information systems (i.e. Auto Attendant System, 800-Motorola Base Station, ComLog, Digital Voice Recorder, DTN/Kavouras Computer Systems, Dukane Call Box Phone/Annunciator Panel, Emergency Crash Phone, Electronic Visual Display Systems, Teledesk, etc.).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Successful completion of job related tests. Two (2) years experience in communication systems including radio dispatching and scheduling desired.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
