NATURE OF WORK
Under the direction of the Benefits Manager, assess, plan, design, implement and evaluate health promotion, wellness and prevention program communication strategies consistent with the priorities and resources of the department.
Primarily responsible for the development of communication, marketing and branding of the health and wellness program through development and distribution of flyers, brochures, newsletters, handouts, audio visual aids, presentations and website updates.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Coordinate and facilitate all health promotion, wellness and prevention opportunities to promote understanding and cooperation with wellness concepts including collection and analysis of audience related response and feedback.
Responsible for daily health education/promotion administrative duties including participant enrollment, follow-up, securing instructors, booking meeting space and maintaining health education database.
Monitor the effects of health promotion and prevention efforts by documenting outcomes and trending data.
Research, write, and edit accurate, meaningful, and readable copy for county publications.
Create and maintain a library of wellness resources and maintain inventory of educational literature.
Review annual benefit plan renewals and provide input to Benefits Manager on any proposed benefit plan design changes. Work with Benefits Manager on RLI and RFP documents to ensure plan design elements enhance the health, wellness and prevention program strategy.
Perform related work as required.

Able to work independently and efficiently on a variety of projects, set priorities and meet deadlines. Strong attention to meeting multiple deadlines.
Experienced working with vendors to manage timelines and meet deadlines.
Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, marital status, political affiliation, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or gender identity and expression.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Health Science Education, or related filed, two (2) years of experience in the development and implementation of health and wellness promotion including all aspects of public relations, media relations, internal and external communications, and marketing, or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
