This is professional work with the Sexual Assault Treatment Center/Child Protection Team (CPT) involving in-depth interviews, assessments and clinical supervision of children and their families in high-risk populations where there have been allegations of abuse/neglect such as: domestic violence, sexual abuse, sexual assault, child abuse, mental health, alcohol abuse, and/or drug abuse.
As part of the CPT, incumbents provide assessment services to supplement the child protective investigation activities of the Department of Children and Families and designated sheriff’s offices.
The unit is staffed 24/7. Incumbents participate in scheduled after hour’s on-call on a rotating basis.
Work involves application of a variety of advanced diagnostic, assessment and forensic techniques within established policies and procedures. Work is reviewed through clinical supervision, staffings, reports and observation of work results.
Employees in this class perform with some autonomy and make independent judgments within established policies and procedures.

This classification is distinguished from CPT Case Coordinator I by the assignment of and responsibility for more complex cases, supervision of other CPT staff, and assisting the Team Coordinator and/or Clinical Supervisor with special projects.
Act in the absence of and for the Team Coordinator or Clinical Supervisor in conjunction with the Medical Director to ensure services, coverage, and liaison with stakeholders.
Conducts assessments and prepares reports. Provides completed reports to child protective investigators upon completion within the time frames consistent with program requirements and best practice.
Supervise subordinate staff and interns.
Interviews children, family members, and collaterals in complex cases as needed to obtain medical, forensic, and psychosocial information about family history and information pertinent to the allegations.
Prepares progress notes, reports, and documentation on assigned clients.
Maintains client records. Uses basic computer-based office applications.
Provides recommendations to child protective investigators to assist in their investigation and service recommendations based on information gathered from assessment services and collateral information.
Serves leadership role as part of the CPT Management Team, along with the Clinical Supervisor and Team Coordinator.
Participate in scheduled after hour’s on-call. Assist with supervisory on-call.
Attends staff meetings and scheduled training sessions to include successful completion of a minimum of eight hours of training per year in child abuse, abandonment, and neglect.
Prepares cases for, and arranges, and conducts team staffings and participates in the development of the recommendations to provide child protective investigators, law enforcement and child advocates.
Coordinates retrieval of pertinent records for inclusion in assessment services from hospitals, medical providers, psychiatric facilities, medical examiner’s officers and other treatment providers as needed to complete assessments and make recommendations.
Provides depositions and court testimony as an expert witness.
Conducts training on child abuse/neglect in the community for professional staff such as child abuse investigators, law enforcement, school board, child advocates, medical professionals, mental health professionals and others as designated by the team coordinator.
Coordinates client services and referrals to community agencies.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Master's Degree in Nursing or a Human Services field such as Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or other Behavioral Science from an accredited college or university; three (3) years of post-bachelor’s degree experience in the field of child abuse and neglect that includes: at least one (1) year of demonstrated experience in forensic interviewing in the areas of child abuse and neglect, and at least one (1) year of experience in Florida Child Protection Services (Child Protective Investigations, Community Based Care Case Management, Child Protection Teams).
Work requires possession of a valid Florida driver’s license and the ability to drive and the ability to obtain and maintain authorization to drive on County business. Successful completion the Advanced Forensic Interview training by an approved provider within one (1) year of employment is also required.
