NATURE OF WORK
This is supervisory and administrative work in traffic sign control operations.
Work involves planning and directing the work of subordinate personnel engaged in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of traffic control signs. Supervision is exercised over all assigned personnel through subordinate supervisors. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior through conferences and reports to assure conformance with desired results.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Plans and directs the work of subordinates engaged in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of various types of traffic signs.
Plans and directs the work of skilled, semiskilled and unskilled workers engaged in the use of painting equipment, installation and manufacture of traffic signs, and the installation and use of various materials in properly marking the street system.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and equipment used in the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signs.
Thorough knowledge of practices, methods, materials and tools used in the installation, maintenance and painting of traffic signs and marking systems.
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of this type of work.
Ability to plan, direct and coordinate the work of subordinates.
Ability to prepare clear and concise oral and written reports.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation or sexual orientation.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school; six (6) years experience in journey level traffic sign work, including two (2) years experience in the supervisory aspects of the work; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement is required.
