PROPERTY AGENT I

NATURE OF WORK

This is technical field and office work in the acquisition of real estate and right-of-way for public use.

Work involves the use of land surveys and other engineering information to identify real property affected by road construction and other projects. Duties are performed with a significant degree of independence, but in accordance with established policies and procedures relating to land acquisition by Broward County. Work is assigned and reviewed by a supervisor who provides assistance on unusual or difficult projects.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Conducts field negotiations for the purchase of real estate and right-of-way for public roads.

Prepares legal documents and handles all closing details.

Performs paralegal work in the preparation of information necessary for eminent doman suits by County Attorney.

Contacts County agencies with respect to their property needs and uses.

Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Knowledge of the standard methods of real estate appraising. Knowledge of real estate documents and procedures used to convey property titles and record real estate information.

Ability to examine a title search to determine condition of title.

Ability to comprehend engineering construction plans for roadways and canals to determine right-of-way needed.

Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school; experience in real estate appraising and sales work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
