What We Do

We issue licenses and permits for several industries in Broward County. County regulations ensure a fair, safe and competitive marketplace, establish your rights and responsibilities when conducting business with them and also outline how to become a licensee. Select an industry for details.

News & Highlights

The Consumer Protection Division will be conducting a lottery for taxi and luxury sedan certificates of public convenience and necessity.  Tickets will be sold throughout the month of May and the drawing will be held on June 28th, 2022 at 9 AM.  For additional information, please go to 2022 Lottery Notice.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution to Section 40.50 of the Broward County Administrative Code to allow for an increase in the first 1/6 of a mile charged by taxicabs if the 30-day average of unleaded regular gasoline is over $4.00 per gallon.  In order to charge the additional fee, the taxicab must have the taximeter adjusted to show the, current, $1.00 increase in the drop rate and have the new rate stickers posted on the vehicle.  The new rate stickers are available at Government Center West, 1 North University Drive in Plantation.
