​​​​​Broward County received numerous awards and recognitions for programs and services that promote livability in our community and enhance quality of life.

National Association of Counties (NACo) Awards

The County won 13 NACo Awards, including recognition for programs that use new technology and innovation to advance energy goals and environmental stewardship, and programs that promote community and economic development. NACo award winners for 2020 are:

• Branching Out: Community Outreach Program – a “one-stop-shop" for environmental outreach and education from the Environmental Engineering and Permitting Division
  

• BCSD Contractor Licensing Enforcement Program – A Building Code Services Division initiative to welcome major and specialty classification construction trades
• ePermitsOneStop – a website that allows customers to submit applications and have plans reviewed online for both county and participating city permits, licenses and approvals
• TeamUP Broward Mentor-Protégé Pilot Program – a program to further the development of  protégés, mentoring them to move into new areas of work and/or compete in the marketplace outside of the County's certified small business programs.

• Night Sky Program – a program of “night-friendy" policies introduced into the County's Climate Action Plan, Land Use Plan, Comprehensive Plan and Code of Ordinances to reduce excessive light
• Water Quality GeoWeb Mapper – web-based platforms that inform the public about the health of Broward County's 266-plus miles of waterways and help leaders make decisions regarding water quality issues
• Manatee Protection Plan Education and Awareness – a multi-faceted campaign to reduce watercraft-related manatee deaths in local waterways
• Regional Resiliency Standards for Tidal Flood Protection – a series of regionally consistent standards for seawalls, banks and berms to mitigate high tide flooding from sea level rise
• Sidewalk Root Barrier System – a system to preserve mature trees that impact sidewalks, causing an unsafe, uneven walking surface for pedestrians

• What if HIV Awareness Campaign – a campaign designed to dispel misconceptions about people living with HIV
• Broward Ryan White Quarterly Journal “Positively Speaking" – a Ryan White Part A  Quarterly Journal, launched as a vehicle for HIV advocacy, enlightenment and expression

• Library Services on Land, Air and Sea - Broward County Libraries provides access to its digital collections for anyone with a smartphone or device – no library card or registration needed
• Project Welcome – Makes the Library an entry point for newcomers and English languages learners to Broward County
